Spring 2014

Asena_Kangal_Rottweiler

It's been no updates the last six months. In addition to the dog trainer course, I have attended courses 2 times a week as a trainer-assistent so spare time has been a luxury. :o) But to have the chance to inspire others to have fun with their dogs is incredibly rewarding. I now wait in anticipation for the exam results of the theoretical part.

During Easter Kira, owned by friends, spent 2 weeks in our care. Took her a couple of days to settle into our pack. But after that she enjoyed the pack-life with lots of activities. She specially liked searching for treats. In the beginning she wasn't sure what I wanted her to do, but after watching Asena and Cora for a while she got it! Lots of long walks. As fare as we know she is not permanently damaged by her stay with us. Hehe :o)

Asena is doing great. A happy girl which does well with her own pack. At times she really doesn't feel like mingeling too much with other dogs, which I think is ok. There is one exception, Balder, her hero! If she smells he's home it is difficult to walk pass his house. He is a gentleman all puppies should meet.

Besides Asena ripping a nail completely off this spring she is in fantastic shape. And she is an angel to train. To track is the most fun activity for her. I should definately take her on a course to learn even more.

Cora is Cora. Full trottle. In May she and I attended an agility course at Din Beste Venn. Amazing fun with very engaged and inspiering trainer. Cora really boosted her self-asteem. And she did so great that she won her "class" in an informal competition. A very proud mom!

She loves to train these days. When we're on walks she's not far away." It might just happen that mom wants me to do some fun while we walk".

And then there is our dear Arog. In January we found a lump between his third and fouth toe on his left front paw. The lump grew extremely fast and huge that he had problems walking with full weight. The vet did not find any puncture and no sign of bacterial infection. We were sent home with a tube of Fucidin to lubricate morning and night. After a couple of days it lump withdrew.... or so we thought. Recently it came back and this time even larger. In addition we found a smiliar lump og one of the hind paws. So off to the vets' again. Arog visits to the vets' is foremost associated with discomfort and pain so his patient with vets' is all time low. As a consequence we now find it neccessary to put him under mild anesthesia so they can do a proper job. And she did (and with regards to the size of the bill she ought to....). After many punctures with a syringe she found at least 3 pockets with puss. It appears that he's had this infection since January. Oh my! But after just 2 days he seems much better.

A month ago Arog had a check-up at the surgeon that operated his hook last year. The hooks is stabil. New x-rays of his hips were taken. Unfortunately it showed that his HD has severely worsened the past year. We take one day at the time and try to make them as comfortable as possible.

The holiday is just arround the corner and we are so looking forward to that. Lots of walks, fishing and relaxation! And if we're lucky the weathergods will be on our side. :o)

Have a great summer all!
